Hawkwood Road Car Park in Boscombe to close permanently

The car park behind the former WHSmith and Costa Coffee on Christchurch Road will begin phased closures starting May 29, 2026. Initially, approximately 50 spaces will be affected, with full closure from July 24 to facilitate construction for the Better Boscombe regeneration project. This project plans to build a new community center, 68 council-owned homes, and a health and wellbeing center, with an estimated cost of £23.9 million. Main construction is set to commence in August, and the entire development is expected to be completed by August 2028. Preparatory work, including WHSmith’s demolition, is already underway.
