Dorset Police reports a nine percent decline in knife-related offenses from April 2025 to April 2026 compared to the previous year, along with an increase in positive outcomes for reported incidents. The county ranks first nationally for knife crime relative to population, indicating lower victimization rates. Efforts such as targeted patrols, public cooperation, and weapon seizures have contributed to this decrease. To further combat knife crime, Dorset Police is participating in the national Sceptre campaign from May 18 to May 24, featuring weapon sweeps, educational sessions, and public engagement events. Detective Superintendent Andy Bell emphasizes the commitment to removing knives from the streets.
