Following the severe damage from Storms Ingrid and Chandra, Dorset Council has initiated a £9.25 million program, which includes critical investments in flood resilience and drainage improvements. Key projects involve £456,000 allocated for Old Sherborne Road and Godmanstone, alongside £250,000 for drain maintenance. Council member Cllr Jon Andrews emphasized the importance of understanding flooding causes through investigations and community engagement to enhance future preparedness. The council aims to publish all findings and ensure investments target areas most needed for flood resilience, especially after a record wet January that prompted a significant increase in road defects and pothole reports.
