Sandra Finch, a parent of a Year 10 student at Corfe Hills School, criticized teachers for striking during exam periods over proposed redundancies, describing the protests as “intimidating.” She argues the strike disrupts students’ education and claims the redundancies, affecting only a PE teacher, a science teacher, and a teaching assistant, aren’t as severe as reported. Finch believes the strikers fail to consider the negative impact on students. Meanwhile, the National Education Union contends their strike is necessary to prevent long-term harm to students’ education due to staffing cuts and increasing class sizes. Further strikes are planned throughout May and June.
