Sophie, a Dorset student, won the People’s Choice Award at the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow competition for her app that utilizes satellite imaging and predictive AI to combat illegal fishing and protect marine habitats. The competition, aimed at inspiring young inventors in the UK and Ireland, attracted over 2,185 participants aged 11 to 18. Other winners included The Plant Enforcers from Norfolk, AsthmaSense, and The Green Cross, each recognized for their innovative tech projects. Winners receive work experience at Samsung and opportunities for national exposure. Samsung’s initiative highlights the potential of youth in technology.
