On May 11, nine fire crews responded to a roof fire at a commercial building in Wimborne Square, believed to be a restaurant. Firefighters arrived at 7:40 PM, using two main lines and four hose reel jets to combat the blaze. By 10:30 PM, they reduced to three appliances but remained until around 3 AM. A reinspection was scheduled for May 12. The incident led to bus diversions in the area, prompting local frustrations over proposed fire station cuts. Councillor Pete Miles highlighted the need for increased funding for fire services by central government during an ongoing consultation regarding potential closures.
