Dorset Council is considering proposals to install new automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) cameras and modern parking machines at South Beach, Marine Terrace, and Shell Bay car parks. The Trust argues these upgrades will enhance parking efficiency for visitors and maintain revenue. The existing machines are outdated and lead to customer dissatisfaction. The new machines will be smaller, energy-efficient, and won’t dispense paper tickets. The proposed ANPR cameras will be positioned on 4-meter poles, including one at Shell Bay’s entrance, aiming to simplify parking for users.
