Octopus Captured by Fishing Vessel in Christchurch Bay

Greg Pitt, a skipper from Greg Pitt Sea Fishing in Keyhaven, captured a rare octopus while fishing in Christchurch Bay. It was the first octopus he had encountered in 40 years at sea. Greg noted that octopuses are typically found in the West Country, particularly in Devon and Cornwall, but appear to be moving north. After taking a photo, he released the octopus back into the sea. He expressed surprise at the sighting, indicating a possible change in marine species distribution in the area.
