Rare New Forest stallions return today

Twenty-five rare New Forest stallions are being released onto designated areas of the Forest for breeding season. They will remain out for up to six weeks to bolster the breed’s quality and bloodlines, under the supervision of local Commoners and the Verderers. Stallions will be in areas like Woodgreen and Burley until June 22, though they can be brought in earlier. Visitors are advised to admire the stallions from a distance and not to feed or approach them to avoid potential fines. Dog owners should keep pets controlled, and drivers must exercise caution on Forest roads during this period.
