Visually Impaired Children Enjoy Sports at BU Sports Day

On April 30, Bournemouth University hosted a Sports Day at its Talbot Campus for 22 visually impaired children aged 7 to 15. Organized by Dr. Ben Powis and supported by Dorset Council, the event allowed participants to try adapted sports like goalball. Parents appreciated the opportunity for their children to engage with peers in a supportive environment. One parent noted her daughter felt happy and included, contrasting with the challenges in regular school sports. BU sport management students assisted in coaching, gaining valuable experience in inclusive coaching techniques, while past participants now actively engage in local sports clubs.
