Dorset Council has launched the Best Start Local Plan, aimed at enhancing early childhood development by integrating services across education, health, Family Hubs, and the voluntary sector. Developed from community feedback, the plan focuses on early identification of needs and inclusive practices for children aged birth to five. It seeks to improve the percentage of children achieving a Good Level of Development (GLD) from 69.7% to 76.4% overall, and from 45% to 55% for disadvantaged children by 2028. The initiative also aims to address challenges faced by families in Dorset due to its rural geography, fostering stronger community connections.
