Callean Wyburn, 18, collided with a young boy at a pedestrian crossing in Christchurch while riding an electric motorbike. The boy sustained severe injuries, including a laceration to his head and lost three teeth. The incident occurred on June 10, 2025, when Wyburn ignored a red light and collided with the child before also hitting a car and fleeing the scene. He later turned himself in to police and was charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving without a license, and without insurance. Wyburn expressed remorse, and sentencing is pending.
