In the early hours of April 5, the Poole Coastguard Rescue Team was called to investigate a reported sighting in Poole Bay. The Officer in Charge initially led a visual search from a vantage point, followed by a vehicular search along the promenade from Alum Chine to Durley Chine, and further toward Shore Road. They also spoke with beachgoers at Branksome Chine but found no unusual activity or evidence of a flare. After confirming there were no further reports or distress calls, the JRCC deemed the situation resolved, and the team was stood down after a debrief. The public’s decision to call 999 was praised.
