Wimborne held its inaugural Festival of Sport and Active Leisure on April 19, as part of its Town of Culture program. The free, family-friendly event showcased local sports, encouraging residents to participate in various activities such as rugby, cricket, football, canoeing, and climbing. More than 16 local sports organizations were involved, with a stamp card challenge popular among children—approximately 300 completed it. The day included a continuous 1km relay by Wimborne Athletics Club, ultimately covering a marathon distance. Organized by the Town of Culture Sport and Active Leisure Forum, the festival received sponsorship from local community groups.
