Row over Bournemouth ward changes

John Beesley, leader of the BCP Conservative Group, criticized the decision-making process for the new Bournemouth Town Council wards, claiming the boundaries were established “behind closed doors” without the usual independent review. He expressed discomfort over the rapid decisions lacking typical scrutiny. In response, BCP Council stated that the process was lawful, adhered to national guidelines, and emphasized that the Boundary Commission does not oversee community governance reviews. The council asserted that the proposals underwent debate among councillors and a cross-party group, reflecting a transparent democratic process.
