Conductor Michal Oren has been appointed as the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra’s (BSO) Calleva Assistant Conductor for the 2026/27 season after a competitive audition process involving seven candidates. Oren expressed gratitude for the opportunity, stating she looks forward to developing her skills and connecting with the orchestra and audience. Currently based in London, she studied under Sian Edwards and has experience with Opera North and the Royal Northern Sinfonia. The position, supported by The Calleva Foundation, includes mentorship from BSO’s artistic team, including notable figures like chief conductor Mark Wigglesworth.
