Sandra Harrison, 77, has fought bladder cancer for nine years, with recent progression. Her family was hopeful for a new treatment, Enfortumab Vedotin, offered in April 2025, but the NHS only covers it for first-time patients, leaving Sandra ineligible. After their appeal was denied, the family has self-funded the treatment, costing £80,000 so far. Kay, Sandra’s daughter, emphasizes the injustice of having to fight for life-extending treatment based on financial ability. Despite the financial strain and the risk of selling their home, Sandra is responding well to the treatment, allowing her to enjoy time with her family.
