Investigation Underway into ‘Suspicious’ Fire at Sherborne Building

On April 26, Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service responded to a fire at a derelict three-storey Grade II-listed building in Cornhill, Sherborne. The fire, which resulted in a roof collapse, required the efforts of 35 firefighters who battled flames for over 12 hours. Police have launched a suspicious fire investigation, increasing their presence in the area. Dorset Council expressed sadness over the significant damage and is collaborating with structural engineers to address safety concerns. They aim to recover costs for emergency repairs while continuing discussions with the building’s owner about necessary actions.
