Emergency services responded to a fire at the former Newell House School in Sherborne on Sunday evening, leading to road closures, including the A30 and Greenhill. Firefighters remained on-site for nearly 24 hours. Dorset Police deployed extra officers for traffic management and public reassurance, as the cause of the fire remains unconfirmed. No injuries were reported. Sherborne’s Mayor expressed gratitude to the emergency services and highlighted the urgent need for action regarding the building, which has been under scrutiny for vandalism and anti-social behavior.
