In response to three recent meningitis cases, thousands of students in Weymouth, Portland, and Chickerell have received antibiotics and vaccinations for Meningitis B. Dorset HealthCare, alongside the UK Health Security Agency, organized rapid clinics in local schools, including Budmouth and Wey Valley, providing over 4,300 antibiotic doses and nearly 4,100 vaccinations. There have been no additional cases reported, and those affected are recovering. Health officials encourage any remaining eligible individuals to visit ongoing clinics. Symptoms to watch for include fever, headache, vomiting, and a non-fading rash, warranting immediate medical attention if suspected.
