Ricky Shepherd, 47, is on trial at Bournemouth Crown Court for rape, attempted rape, and sexual assault stemming from an incident on November 24, 2023. Prosecutor Richard Onslow detailed that Shepherd met the complainant at a military base bar, where she later chose to sleep on a sofa. After a series of suggestive texts, she went to his room, intending merely to sleep. However, Shepherd allegedly ignored her refusals and persisted in his sexual advances. The complainant reported the incidents, including visible bruising, to a sexual assault referral center the following day. Shepherd denies all charges and claims the encounter was consensual.
