Dorset Council is inviting volunteers of all ages to join its Age Friendly Dorset programme, established after the county was recognized as the UK’s 100th age-friendly community in September 2025. The initiative aims to create more inclusive communities for older residents, who make up about 30% of the population. Volunteers will act as Ambassadors, promoting age-friendly initiatives, encouraging participation in consultations, and fostering awareness. In return, they will receive training, updates, and opportunities to connect with others. The programme is based on feedback from over 700 residents discussing local issues such as transport and community engagement.
