Residents have until Tuesday, April 28, to apply for free voter ID before the local elections on May 7, where photo identification is required to vote. Accepted forms of ID include passports, driving licenses, and certain travel passes, even if expired, as long as the voter is recognizable. Those without suitable ID should apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate by the deadline. Applications can be made online or through BCP Council, with support available. Matt Pitcher, Head of Elections at BCP Council, emphasizes the importance of being “election ready” and provides a contact number for assistance.
