MP intensifies efforts to reinforce fox hunting ban

The Hunting Act 2004 (Amendment) Bill, introduced by Labour MP Neil Duncan-Jordan on April 23, seeks to close loopholes that have allowed hunting under the pretext of trail hunting, which often results in foxes being killed. The bill proposes new offenses, such as “going equipped” for illegal hunting, and increases enforcement powers, with penalties up to £40,000. Duncan-Jordan emphasized the need for robust legislation to maintain public trust in animal welfare efforts. Campaigners have welcomed the proposed changes, aiming to end the acceptance of wildlife crime in the countryside.
