Amber wildfire alert issued

Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service has issued an amber wildfire alert due to dry conditions that may cause rapid fire spread, particularly in open areas like heathlands and fields. Several heath fires have already occurred this year, with some suspected to be intentionally set. Group Manager Graham Kewley is advising the public to avoid barbecues and campfires, properly dispose of cigarettes, and report any fire incidents immediately. He emphasizes that early reporting is crucial to prevent small fires from escalating into major incidents. Residents are urged not to tackle large fires themselves but to contact authorities.
