Fines nearly double as council intensifies measures against waste offences

Dorset Council reported significant enforcement actions against fly-tipping, issuing 80 Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs) in 2025, nearly double from 2024. Fly-tipping, illegal dumping of waste, negatively impacts communities, the environment, and taxpayer finances. The council investigates every reported incident and has increased fines for offenders, issuing 33 for fly-tipping and penalties for not having proper waste documentation. The council’s efforts included seizing 11 vehicles linked to waste crimes. Residents are urged to report fly-tipping promptly, noting locations and advising against interacting with offenders.
