Local Democracy Reporter Amy Woodward addressed community concerns regarding proposed new town councils in BCP, following a consultation from March to June 2025. Six councils were suggested, but only Bournemouth, Broadstone, and Poole were approved. The consultation revealed that 74% of residents opposed new councils. BCP Council spent over £32,600 on this process. To reverse the councils, a new Community Governance Review can be initiated via public petitions requiring specific signatures based on voter numbers. This review process evaluates the creation, merging, or abolition of parish structures and must conclude within a year.
