The A338 was closed in both directions after a dozen horses were spotted running loose on the road near the Blackwater junction around midday, causing over an hour of traffic congestion. Surrounding routes, including Christchurch Road and Hurn Bridge, became heavily gridlocked as drivers sought alternatives. Bournemouth One provided live updates while Dorset Police managed the situation. Officers arrived shortly after receiving the report at 11:50 am and successfully removed the horses, allowing the A338 to reopen just before 2 pm.
