A fire broke out at Bagshot Moor, near East Boldre and Lymington, burning approximately four hectares of heathland and raising concerns for local wildlife, including nesting birds and reptiles. The cause is currently unknown. About 40 firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze, which started around 5 PM on April 18. Local residents were advised to keep windows and doors closed due to heavy smoke. Visitors to the New Forest are reminded that barbecues and fires are banned, and anyone spotting a fire should call 999 and provide location details using what3words.
