Michael Wheeler, headteacher at Pamphill First School from September 2021 until his suspension in June 2024, faced allegations from the Teaching Regulation Agency, including inappropriate spending using the school’s credit card. In January 2023, he purchased items for a parent whose car broke down on the school grounds, admitting this was against policy but claiming a humanitarian response. He later faced further accusations regarding undisclosed information about a colleague and miscommunication during a formal investigation, which the panel deemed dishonest. Despite these findings, the panel found strong public interest in his continued profession and decided against banning him.
