Weymouth is considering a “Seagull Patrol” to prevent gulls from stealing food from tourists. The plan involves trained birds of prey being flown above the promenade to deter seagulls while visitors enjoy fish and chips. Falconers would patrol daily, with hawks circling the area, and signs indicating a “Seagull Control Zone.” Town council officials believe this initiative will enhance the dining experience by preventing surprise food thefts. Many tourists have expressed support for the idea after encountering aggressive gulls previously. However, it was revealed that this announcement was an April Fools’ joke.
