East Cliff works could last until 2028

Stabilization work on East Cliff in Bournemouth may last until March 2028, aiming to minimize landslip risks and reopen the promenade. Funded by a £3 million government grant, the project requires public consultation as a planning application is underway. The East Cliff Lift has remained out of service since a 2016 landslip, and plans include demolishing existing structures while preserving some lift components for potential future use. Temporary construction areas are proposed, and there may be lane closures with parking adjustments. Councillor Sara Armstrong supports the initiative, highlighting its importance for tourism and its impact on elderly residents.
