The Dorset History Centre has secured £603,777 in initial funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund for its “Past Lives Future Proofed” project. This initiative aims to enhance secure storage and public areas at the Centre, which preserves over 1,000 years of Dorset’s history, including documents, photographs, and records. The funding will help develop plans for a larger project seeking a total of £3.8 million. With existing storage at capacity, the project will focus on expanding storage, preserving digital records, and increasing public access over an 18-month development phase that includes community consultation and volunteer opportunities.
