As of December 31, 2025, the Chine, Britannia, and Roundhouse hotels in Bournemouth accommodate 477 asylum seekers, down from 574 in September and 615 in June of the same year. The Home Office plans to close 11 asylum seeker hotels, including the three Bournemouth hotels. MP Tom Hayes criticized asylum hotels, citing negative impacts on local residents, and expressed optimism about potential closures. In the UK, £4 billion was spent on asylum support last year, with 107,003 individuals receiving aid, including 30,657 in around 200 hotels.
