Nearly 200 candidates have stepped forward to contest the new town councils in Bournemouth, Poole, and Broadstone, established after a divisive Community Governance Review. Despite opposition from community consultations—where approximately 54% supported Poole and Broadstone and 51% for Bournemouth—the councils were sanctioned by a council vote. Elections will occur on May 7, with 27 new parish wards across the area. Numerous candidates from various parties, including Labour, Green, Liberal Democrats, and independent entrants, will represent these wards. Residents are advised to verify their ward and polling station details via their poll cards.
