Extra patrols in Bournemouth after death

Bournemouth will see increased police patrols in the coming days as officers continue investigating a serious overnight incident.

Emergency services were called to Charminster Road at around 3am on Monday 6 April 2026 following reports of an assault outside MyBar. A man in his 40s from Christchurch was pronounced deceased at the scene, and his family has been informed.

Three men have since been arrested on suspicion of murder. They include two Bournemouth men aged 37 and 46, along with a 34-year-old man from Poole. Enquiries are ongoing as officers work to establish exactly what happened.

A cordon remains in place while forensic work continues, and residents will notice a visible police presence locally. Officers say this is to both reassure the public and support the investigation.

Detective Chief Inspector Nicky Jenkins said “a detailed investigation is underway to establish what happened” and thanked the public for their patience while work at the scene continues.

Police believe there were a number of people in the area at the time and are urging anyone who saw anything to come forward. Drivers who were nearby are also being asked to check dashcam footage for anything that may assist.

Anyone with information can contact Dorset Police quoting occurrence number 55260048268, or speak to officers in the area over the coming days.
