Weymouth has seen a 56-year-old man jailed for 12 years after admitting multiple serious sexual offences.
Simon Evans was sentenced at Bournemouth Crown Court on Friday 20 March 2026 after pleading guilty to rape, sexual assault and 11 counts of sexual assault by penetration, following an incident at an address in the town between 20 and 21 June 2025.
The court heard the victim was unconscious during what police described as a prolonged and violent attack, during which Evans also recorded photos and videos and later made threats to share the material, adding further distress to the situation.
Dorset Police launched an investigation after the incident was reported on 22 June 2025, arresting Evans the same day and continuing enquiries through an evidence-led approach when the victim was unable to support the case, including analysing his mobile phone, gathering DNA evidence and examining material recovered from his address.
Police Staff Investigator Samantha Sheppard said Evans carried out a “prolonged and horrific” assault and highlighted the strength of the investigation, adding that tackling violence against women and girls remains a priority and that cases can still progress through detailed evidence gathering even without victim support.
Evans will also serve a three-year extended licence period and remain on the sex offenders’ register for life.
