West Bay harbour wall repairs will begin next week as part of ongoing improvement works.
The next phase will start on 30 March, with crews carrying out re pointing work on sections of wall A and wall B, alongside repairs to a damaged walkway near the forecourt over an 8 week programme.
This follows earlier work completed last year on harbour wall B and is designed to prepare the site for further strengthening later this year, with more extensive reinforcement work planned to begin in the autumn.
Councillor Jon Andrews said he was “delighted” the next stage could begin, adding the work would be carried out mainly from a pontoon to “cause minimal disruption” despite taking place over the Easter period.
During the works, the pavement along the top of wall A is expected to stay open with some short closures needed for moving equipment, while pedestrians can use the opposite side of the road and access to kiosks will continue.
The walkway along wall B will remain closed while utility repairs continue, with the final phase set to include structural reinforcement using cofferdam and sheet piling methods.
